Reviews

AudioFile Magazine...
Certain works are meant for live performance, and the plays of Noel Coward are prime examples. L.A. Theatre Works is in top form with this live reading of Coward's slapstick fantasy about mischievous ghosts, a muddled medium, and a hapless husband. Ian Ogilvie--as mystery writer Charles Condomine--outshines Rex Harrison's performance in the David Lean film. Other cast members--including Rosalind Ayres and Judy Geeson as Condomine's two wives--are equally wonderful. Shirley Knight is lively in her over-the-top performance reprising Margaret Rutherford's role as Madame Arcati. Tasteful music and special effects embellish the atmosphere. This production will have Coward smiling in his grave. S.E.S. (c) AudioFile 2000, Portland, Maine
